The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) announced that hospitals in La Serena, Coquimbo, Puerto Varas, Río Bueno and Los Lagos will begin construction in less than 6 months in Chile.
Construction work for 5 significant hospitals in the public health network is set to commence between October and Q1 of 2024. According to the announced schedules, the construction will begin in Coquimbo (October), followed by Puerto Varas, Río Bueno, and Los Lagos (November onwards), and La Serena (early 2024).
Notably, two high-complexity hospitals in the Coquimbo Region will replace the existing ones. The construction will kick off in Coquimbo in the upcoming weeks. For La Serena, there were negotiations with the Concessionaire Company and the Ministry of Health regarding a project expansion. The construction for the hospitals in Puerto Varas, Los Lagos, and Río Bueno will start following the completion of procedural steps. These projects are part of the National Hospital Network overseen by the MOP, comprising 27 initiatives, and are managed by the Concessions and Architecture departments in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
