Construction completed for Nairobi Southern Bypass in Kenya

China Road and Bridge Corp (CRBC) completed the construction of The Nairobi southern bypass in Nairobi, Kenya.

The 28.6 km bypass dual carriageway begins on the southern edges of the capital city on the Nairobi-Mombasa Road, passes through Gitaru in the northern part of the town and connects to the western bypass. The Nairobi Western Bypass project also includes construction of seven grade interchanges at Gitaru, Lower Kabete, Wangige, Kihara, Ndenderu, Rumenye, and Ruaka, as well as the construction of 10 overpasses and five underpasses

The road was funded jointly by the China Exim Bank and the Kenyan government.

The CRBC began construction of the western bypass at a cost of KES17 billion (US$157 million) in 2019.
