The Government of Germany has announced the completion of the construction of the new building for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) at Berlin Central Station.
The complex on Kapelle-Ufer 1 has an area of about 58,000 sq m. The building will remain in use until 31 July 2041, with 350 Berlin employees (1,000 employees in total) working in the new office. The amount of investment in the project amounted to EUR115 million (US$122 million). Some of the complex's buildings will be leased until jobs from Bonn are transferred to Berlin. Companies such as BAM Germany and Amber Infrastructure built the building.
The project involves the design, construction, operation, maintenance and financing of the new Federal German Ministry of Education and Research building for 27 years.
