The Public-Private Partnership Center has announced that the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Passenger Terminal Building public-private partnership (PPP) project has started construction.
Initial construction work on the PHP17.52 billion (US$311.57 million) project began with the pouring of concrete at the Mactan construction site. The project involves the construction of a new world-class passenger terminal building in MCIA, with a capacity of about 8 million passengers per year; and the operation of the old and new facilities. The new terminal, including all related facilities, is proposed to separately cater to domestic and international operations.
The project is scheduled for completion in February 2018, but the GMR-Megawide consortium has stated that it wants to implement this project ahead of schedule.
