The Philippines Public Private Partnership Agency has announced that the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAx) public-private partnership (PPP) project has started construction.

Construction work began with a groundbreaking ceremony for the site, which is part of the project. The project is under construction in two provinces, Cavite and Laguna, to be completed by 2020. The project involves a 4-lane, 47.02 km closed-system tolled expressway, which will connect the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) through the Cavite and Laguna provinces.

The US$674.94 million project is being implemented by private concessionaire MPCALA Holdings, Inc. from the Metro Pacific Group.
