The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced the construction progress of the Bhavnagar - Veraval section of the NH-8E Four/Six-laning Project in Gujarat, India.
The Bhavnagar-Veraval section of NH-8E is a 259.98 km long road that connects the cities of Bhavnagar and Veraval. The road is a part of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase IV and is being constructed under a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model. The project is divided into two packages:
The four-laning of this section of NH-8E will improve the connectivity between Bhavnagar and Veraval, which are important commercial and tourism centers in Gujarat. The project will also reduce travel time and costs for commuters and freight carriers. The project has been awarded to a consortium of companies led by IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited. The total cost of the project is estimated to be INR 33 billion (USD 401 million). The construction of Package 1 was completed in 2022 and the road was opened to traffic. The construction of Package 2 is expected to be completed by 2024.
