Trafford Council has appointed a consortium led by architecture firm Allies and Morrison to develop a strategic masterplan for the regeneration of the Old Trafford area in Manchester.
This initiative is part of a broader vision to transform Trafford Wharfside into a vibrant, sustainable district, with the proposed new 100,000-seat Manchester United stadium serving as the centerpiece. The consortium includes landscape architects SLA, engineering consultants Civic Engineers, and property specialists JLL. Their collective efforts will focus on revitalizing the area surrounding the stadium, particularly the waterfront opposite MediaCityUK. The master plan aims to deliver a "transformational and sustainable international destination" that benefits residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Key components of the regeneration project include the development of thousands of new homes and the creation of numerous job opportunities, positioning it as one of the most significant growth initiatives in the UK. The master plan is expected to be completed by early 2026, with collaborative efforts involving Trafford Council, Manchester United, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, and other key stakeholders. This comprehensive redevelopment underscores a commitment to sustainable urban planning and aims to enhance the economic and social fabric of the Trafford area.
