Senate Committee on Public Services in Philipines approved the appointment of conglomerate San Miguel Corporation (SMC) to build and operate an international airport in Bulacan. The Senate demanded compliance with labor, environmental and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations throughout the project works from the concessionaire. The project is expected to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and support growth and development in Central Luzon.
The SMC has already started to approach companies to facilitate the design and construction works. SMC has asked Groupe ADP (Aeroports de Paris), Meinhardt Group, and Jacobs Engineering Group to join the development project. It is notable that all three companies approached worked for Singapore’s Changi International airport.
