The Roads and Highways Department (RHD) in Bangladesh has signed the public-private partnership (PPP) concession for gateway road in Dhaka with a consortium of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCCL) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
The 13.5-kilometer expressway will connect Hatirjheel and Demra neighborhood of the Greater Dhaka region. 9.5 kilometers of the expressway will be elevated and 4 km will be at grade road level. Once completed, the expressway is expected to serve 30,000 vehicles per day.
The estimated investment value of the project is BDT20.94 billion (US$238.62 million). The funding will be raised by the concessionaire, and the authority will provide availability payments during 21 years. The concession period for the project is 25 years including 4 years for the implementation.
