The Mozambican government has granted a 15-year extension to Cornelder de Moçambique for the concession contract for the operation of the port of Beira, located in Sofala Province.

Cornelder de Moçambique is a partnership between Portos e Caminhos-de-Ferro de Moçambique (CFM), state-owned port and railway manager, and Cornelder Holland. Its current concession contract expires in 2023.

The extension was granted in return for a US$290 million investment plan in the port, which includes the repair of 300km of National Road Number 6 from Beira to Machipanda on the border with Zimbabwe, as well as 317km of the Beira-Machipanda railway line.
