Concession notice issued for multimillion Biodiversity Park in Brazil

The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) has issued a public service concession notice to support the visitation, revitalization, modernization, operation and maintenance of the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park in Mato Grosso, Brazil.

According to the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Ministry of Tourism (MTur) and Consórcio Carcará Parque Brasileiros, BRL18 million (US$3.3 million) will be invested in improving the infrastructure of the visiting area, including Morro de São Jerônimo, Cachoeira Véu de Noiva and Cidade de Pedra in addition to the implementation of new attractions. Another BRL200 million (US$38.88 million) is estimated to be invested in the operation and management of the unit.

The park has an area of 32,630 ha to provide and protect significant examples of local ecosystems and has unique landscapes and archaeological sites. It not be privatized and management will continue to be carried out by ICMBio. 

The auction should be held on December 20, 2022 at B3 in São Paulo.
