The Dominican Republic’s national energy commission (CNE) has granted a definitive concession for the development of 7-MW Energia Renovable Ingenio Barahona biomass-fired energy public-private partnership (PPP) project to be located in the town of Santa Cruz de Barahona.
CNE signed a concession agreement with Empresa Consorcio Azucarero Central SA (CAC), the concession is granted for a period of 10 years. The project has been registered in the Production Installation Registry in the Special Electricity Regime and is of great importance to the Central Sugar Consortium. The plant will utilize sugarcane bagasse as biomass.
CAC is a company dedicated to the cultivation and production of sugar cane, the largest industry in the south region, including Barahona, Bahoruco and Independencia provinces.
