The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) in India has extended the contract term for the concession of Hyderabad International Airport with GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) for another 30 years. GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) is a subsidiary of GMR infrastructure.
According to letter of confirmation, GHIAL will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of the airport from March 23, 2038 up to March 22, 2068. Hyderabad International Airport is in operation since March 2008. The initial capacity of 12 million passengers per year was raised to 21 million passengers in 2019 before the Covid pandemic, and the current expansion will increase it to 34 million passengers per year.
