The State Government of Sao Paulo in Brazil has again extended the concession expiration period to the Move Sao Paulo consortium, responsible for the construction of Line 6 of the Metro - Orange PPP project. The new contract expiration deadline is July 01, 2020. This is the sixth postponement of the decree. The deadline was extended due to the confidence of the concessionaire to carry out the execution works.
The authority has been engaged in intense discussion with Acciona to settle with the SPV partners of Move São Paulo, the construction companies Odebrecht, Queiroz Galvão, and UTC. The deadlines are shortened every time, the 4th extension in February was three months, the 5th extended the term by one month and the 6th extension is for 9 days.
The new concession contract in the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model will be defined with Acciona, with a review of the terms of validity and construction of the line. The maintenance period will remain the same and Acciona will assume about 15% of the works completed.
