The concession of La Florida de la Serena Airport in Chile has been awarded to the consortium Aeropuerto IV Región, formed by Cointer Chile S.A. and Concesiones Coquimbo SpA.
The project will expand the current facilities by 9,190 m², going from 4,360 m² to 13,550 m². The concession is awarded for the operation of the airport and its facilities during a period of 260 months (21 years and 8 months). In addition, the scope of works also includes two new boarding bridges, three baggage claim belts, four screening machines and 16 counters for the airlines as well as 175 new public parking lots among others.
The project has a total investment of US$59 million. Construction is expected to start between 2023 and 2024 and will generate around 250 direct jobs in the Coquimbo Region.
