The House Appropriations Committee in the USA has advanced US$ 137.1 billion spending bill covering housing and transportation sector. The amount approved is US$ 6 billion above current levels and US$ 17.3 billion more than US president's request.
The bill will provide US$ 86.6 billion to the Department of Transportation (DOT) and US$ 50.1 billion to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. DOT will receive a slight increase where Housing and urban development department receives approximately US$ 6 billion increase.
The bill was approved with 29-21 vote, Republicans opposed the legislation on the overall amount of the bill. The bill will also provide US$ 75.8 billion in discretionary spending, which is US$ 4.7 billion higher than the current level.
