President of Colombia recently unveiled the visionary National Development Plan including planned socio-economical spending of administration. The plan sets to spend US$ 325 billion to achieve ambitious goals in sectors in infrastructure, education, employment, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability. The plan aims to boost infrastructure investments in Colombia, reviving the railroad sector and advancing airport and roads PPP projects.
Under this plan, the nation wishes to achieve, among other plans, internet connectivity to 11.8 million homes (70%) which stands at 7.4 million (50%) currently. It will increase the rail network in commercial operation more than double reaching to the 1,077 km. It also includes increasing the clean energy generation capacity of the nation to 1,500 MW, compared to 22.4 MW currently.
