The National Government of Colombia, through the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), has announced that all the prerequisites for awarding the Magdalena River PPP have been met.

The US$367 million project involves the development of a 668-kilometer river waterway to improve navigability between Bocas de Ceniza (Barranquilla) and Barrancabermeja (Santander).

ANI received guidance from national and international companies, including the firms Durán & Osorio, for the legal advice; Ernst & Young, for the financial advice; and Environmental Resources Management (ERM) and Royal HaskoningDHV, for the environmental and technical advice respectively. Technical support was also provided by the Universidad del Norte and the Alexander von Humboldt Institute.
