The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has announced the indefinite suspension of the consolidation of the Canal del Dique project in Bolivar Department, Colombia, the award stage of which is scheduled for September 30, 2023.
The reason for the suspension of the project is the negative conflict of jurisdiction that arose between the Sixth Administrative Judge of Cartagena and the Third Criminal Court of the Sincelejo Circuit. The project is on hold until the Constitutional Court does not decide which court should decide on the guardianship presented by the community of Hato Viejo. Guardianship was originally represented by the Hato Viejo District Community Council, Bolivar, Colombia.
During the legal process, ANI continues to hold dialogue boxes with communities from the departments of Atlantico, Bolivar and Sucre, as well as meetings with stakeholders including the Colombian Society of Engineers and academic experts.
