The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) and the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) will award the project for the treatment and final disposal or reuse of wastewater from Chincha - PTAR Chincha, which will benefit 345 000 residents in seven districts of this province, located in the Ica Region, Peru.
This initiative, requiring an investment of approximately US$ 96.5 million, aims to benefit over 345,000 residents across seven districts in the Chincha province: Chincha Alta, Chincha Baja, Grocio Prado, Pueblo Nuevo, Alto Larán, Sunampe, and Tambo de Mora. The project encompasses the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of about 21 km of main collection networks and pumping lines, a pumping station, two new treatment plants with a combined capacity of 0.6 cubic meters per second, and 7.7 km of lines for the final disposal of treated wastewater.
The State, through MVCS, will co-finance the entire investment for the Chincha WWTP and part of its operation and maintenance costs. The National Superintendence of Sanitation Services (SUNASS), the regulator, will establish the tariff for the project to ensure long-term sustainability. Introduced to the private investment promotion process in 2022, the project has received approvals from the MVCS, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), SUNASS, and a report from the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR). Its structuring benefited from technical assistance from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The concession will span 24 years, including four years for design, financing, and construction, and 20 years for operation and maintenance.
