China Everbright International has announced that it has reached a supplementary concession agreement with the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Ninghai County in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province to increase the total designed daily waste processing capacity of a waste-to-energy plant in the county from 1,050 tonnes to 1,500 tonnes.
Everbright International signed a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement with Ninghai County to develop the plant in February 2013. According to the initial agreement, Phase I of the project would deliver a waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes per day. The supplementary agreement increases this to 1,000 tonnes, increasing the total investment of Phase I to approximately CNY720 million (US$106.3 million).
The plant will be equipped with two 500 tonne/day grate furnaces developed by Everbright International and one 25 MW turbine power generator, expected to provide over 133 million kWh of green electricity annually.
The concession period is 28 years, construction period inclusive.
