The Ministry of Public Works has awarded the design, construction and operation of the two healthcare facilities in the O'Higgins Region, Chile.
The Red O'Higgins project, consisting of the Rengo and Pichilemu Hospitals, will be developed by the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) Chile Group. These facilities are expected to serve approximately 276,000 residents, facilitated by the addition of around 80,000 m2 of new hospital space, which will include 262 new beds and various other services.
The Pichilemu Hospital, designed as a low-complexity facility, will cover an area of 12,000 m2 and cater to an estimated population of 70,000 individuals. This hospital will feature 27 undifferentiated medical-surgical beds, 33 medical care and professional consultation rooms, two minor surgery pavilions, and an Emergency Unit with five boxes.
On the other hand, the Rengo Hospital, classified as a medium-high complexity facility, will span approximately 68,000 m2 and serve an estimated population of 206,000 people. This health facility will accommodate a total of 235 beds, including 110 basic and medium care beds, 15 pediatric beds, 26 gynecology and obstetrics beds, 36 critical care beds, 6 neonatal beds, 12 geriatric beds, and 30 psychiatric beds. Additionally, the hospital will feature seven pavilions, 47 medical, dental, and non-medical consultation rooms, an Emergency Unit, two delivery rooms, 10 chemotherapy stations, and 18 dialysis stations.
The project, which entails an investment of nearly US$180 million, is scheduled to commence construction in the first half of 2025 and become operational by the first half of 2028.
