Chile to award Santiago airport road access concession

The Ministry of Public Works in Chile held a videoconference about the Third Concession of the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport Road Access.

During the conference, the authorities have presented to five interested bidders the information on the project regarding the layout, scope of works, economic model, and toll collection system. These companies will submit the technical and economic offers by October 22, 2021. The opening of the bid offers is scheduled for November 19, 2021. The concession contract is expected to be awarded in the first quarter of 2022.

The concession involves the expansion to a dual carriageway of the section between Lo Marcoleta and the new Estero Las Cruces Link (subsector B2); a new single carriageway road, approximately 2.1 km along the north bank to Estero Las Cruces that connects the new Las Cruces Link with connections to the north sector of the airport and the outer road to the west of the airport (subsectors B3 and B4) ; the link to the North Access to the Airport; three bridges (Estero Las Cruces, Estero Las Cruces 2 and Lo Boza) and the Estero Las Cruces underpass. The scope of works also involves the development of uneven intersections, crossings, pedestrian walkways, new roads, bicycle lanes, sanitation and drainage works, signaling and road safety, lighting, bus stops, and emergency telephones, among others.
