Chile invites bids for 'Paso a Paso Chile se Recupera' program

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP), together with the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism in Chile (Minvu), has announced the sixth call for tenders of the 'Paso a Paso Chile se Recupera' (Step by Step Chile is Recovering) plan. The plan aims to reactivate the economy and generate employment in all regions of the country via 309 bids for a total investment of US$518 million.

274 tenders will be processed by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) for a total investment of US$408 million. These tenders involve works in sectors of roads, hospitals, works on riverbanks and canals, Rural Potable Water systems (APR), airports, port works, and public construction. Minvu will be responsible for 19 tenders worth US$21 million, which involve works in urban road infrastructure, public spaces, squares, parks and housing subsidies. Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications will be responsible for 15 tenders with investment value of US$7 million, covering studies of the urban transport system, public transport subsidies, bus stops and traffic lights.

In addition, MOP and Minvu inspected the construction works of the 1.2 km long El Salto Viaduct, part of the Américo Vespucio Oriente (AVO) highway project. The highway is completed by 93% and is expected to be fully ready during the first half of 2022. With an estimated investment of US$939 million, the AVO project will benefit around 750,000 inhabitants of the region.
