The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has only tendered one out of the 11 planned projects for the fiscal year 2019 amounting to US$2.77 billion.
The so-called Austral Airport Network, a US$162 million project, includes the development of Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Airport, in Punta Arenas, and the Balmaceda airfield, in Coyhaique.
Because of the delays, the launching of the bids for the remaining projects is scheduled for 2020. This rescheduling considers five initiatives with a total investment amounting to US$ 791 million.
