Chile announces new light railway PPP project

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has announced the Coquimbo-La Serena light railway public-private partnership (PPP) project in Chile, as part of the Ministry´s 2022-2026 concession project portfolio.

The project involves the construction of a light railway system that will link the cities of Coquimbo and La Serena, aimed at reducing travel time and improving the quality of life of the residents of the two cities of the Coquimbo region and the residents of nearby areas. The project will also become a source of employment for the region.

The total investment value of the project is US$313 million. The tender process for the project is anticipated to be announced in 2023.
