According to sources, a consortium led by Changi Airports has signed a $1.5 billion loan to finance the privatization of Fukuoka Airport, located in southern Japan. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan awarded the contract to Fukuoka Airport HD consortium in June 2018.
The consortium consists of Changi Airport Group, Fukuoka Airport Holdings Company, Kyushu Electric Power, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Nishi-Nippon Railroad. The concession period of Fukuoka International Airport operation is 33 years. The airport handles approximately 21 million passengers a year.
