The local government of Cebu City has sought investors to develop the Cebu City Creative District, a 150-ha project within the North Reclamation in the Philippines.
Creative industries encompass activities related to creativity, culture, economics, and technology, utilizing creativity and intellectual property as their main inputs. The Cebu City Creative District will feature a variety of activities, including arts, culture, culinary arts, design and architecture, fashion, music and performing arts, film production, publishing, advertising, and digital arts. The city government plans to develop the Creative District over the next 10 years. This initiative is a collaboration between the Cebu City local government unit (LGU) and the University of San Carlos - School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Design. In 2019, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized Cebu City as a "Creative City of Design," along with 65 other cities worldwide.
