The government of Cayman Island has signed the agreement to develop an Integrated Solid Waste Management System (ISWMS) to replace a landfill at George Town. These nine ISWMS will help process 95% of waste from landfill and divert it. The construction and operation efforts are scheduled to take place between 2022- 2044.

The main aim of this project development is a final successful attempt to solve the capacity problem of the ever-growing landfill Cayman landfill, which has been promised for decades. It is predicted that the landfill will reach full capacity by 2021.
