Cayman Island launches project ReGen to support Georgetown landfill remediation

The government of Cayman Island has launched the ReGen project, which will develop an energy recovery and recycling center at the southwest of the landfill located in George Town. ReGen initiative aims to develop the necessary infrastructure to facilitate waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and energy recovery with a focus on sustainability and environmental performance. The construction works for this project is expected to take 3.5 years.

Once the remediation works are finished, the George Town Landfill is expected to become a grassy hill that will feature a public viewing area.
