Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Board (WMPO) has voted against the proposal to replace the Cape Fear Bridge with a toll bridge in Wilmington, USA.
The unsolicited proposal was submitted by a private company to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and included the development of a new 135-feet fixed-span bridge with tolling lanes to replace the ageing Cape Fear Bridge. After the voting, NCDOT and WMPO have decided not to explore the idea of replacing the structure with toll lines.
