Cambodia's government has approved the construction of a canal from Phnom Penh to the Gulf of Thailand.
The project entails the construction of a 180 km channel that will stretch from the Bassac River to Kep province, traversing the key regions of Kandal, Takeo, and Kampot. This channel will establish a connection between the Mekong River system and a sea route. The estimated cost of the project is US$1.7 billion, and it is anticipated to be completed within a span of 4 years.
