The Chilean Ministry of Public Works has published a call for tenders for the Comprehensive Study of the Valparaíso-Santiago Train.
The USD 3.82 billion project's first stage includes 172 km and a preliminary investment of USD 1.32 billion. In the second stage, a new railway line is incorporated between Tiltil and Limache and another between El Salto and Valparaíso, with a preliminary additional investment of around USD 2.5 billion. The train route will cross the communes of Santiago, Quinta Normal, Renca, Quilicura, Lampa, and Tiltil, in the Metropolitan Region, and Llay-Llay, Hijuelas, La Calera, La Cruz, Quillota, Limache, Villa Alemana, Quilpué, Viña del Mar and Valparaíso, in the Valparaíso Region. The project will allow the return of the railway connection with passengers between Santiago and Valparaíso and enhance accessibility to intermediate towns such as Tiltil, Quillota, La Calera, and Llay-Llay.
Offers for this open and international tender will be received on January 10, 2025, and economical offers will be opened on February 11, 2025. Interested companies must meet a series of requirements, including having developed consulting services for at least three railway projects for passenger services in the last 20 years.
