Chilian Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has invited bids for the “Model Education and Work Campus: El Arenal de Copiapó” located in the Atacama Region that involves an investment of USD 320.4 million, which will allow the construction of a 76,600 m² facility to house 2,160 persons deprived of liberty.

The facility will be located on state-owned land near Route 5 North, approximately 40 km northwest of Copiapó and 14 km south of the Desierto de Atacama airport. According to the project's bidding schedule, the Reception of Technical and Economic Offers will take place on May 27, 2025, and the Opening of Economic Offers on June 25, 2025. The award of the concession, which has a maximum term of 20 years of operation, is expected to be finalized in the second half of 2025, which will allow construction to begin in 2028 and operations to begin in 2030.
