Indonesia and China have agreed to increase the budget for the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail PPP project in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The project is estimated a budget increase of US$1.2 billion which pushes the price tag to US$8.56 billion, there are several items still under review regarding taxes, and frequency clearing fees. The 142-km high-speed rail line between Jakarta-Bandung was awarded to PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) in 2015 but has faced several issues including construction delays due to the pandemic. The consortium has so far taken delivery of 32 trainsets.
The project is funded by a loan from China Development Bank and is expected to be completed in June 2023.
