Brookfield to acquire railroad operator Genesee & Wyoming

Brookfield Asset Management is a frontrunner to acquire railroad operator Genesee & Wyoming. Other interested companies in buying Genesee & Wyoming are Blackstone Group LP, Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners, and EQT Partners. But according to sources, deal with Brookfield Asset Management might be announced soon. No agreement has been reached yet and discussions may still fall apart for the deal. 

Genesee & Wyoming is a railroad operator based in USA and Canada. Valued at US$ 5.6 billion, the company owns or leases more than 100 short-line and regional freight railroads serving the U.S. and Canada. It also operates in Australia, UK, and Europe.
