The Brazilian government has announced to re-tender the concession of São Gonçalo do Amarante airport in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
Inframérica handle the 30-year contract since 2011, but started the process of returning it in March 2020, claiming economic projections were not met. So, the Audit court Tribunal de Contas da União do Brasil (TCU) approved the move recently. The re-tendering process is long and the government calculates whether compensation must be paid by either party.
Nearly 90% of Brazil's airports are already in private ownership, thus it is anticipated that the auction represents a rare opportunity to enter the segment.
