National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) has approved the concession for the Presidente Dutra highway project in Brazil.
The concession involves works on a stretch of BR-116 connecting São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. ANTT has scheduled the auction for the concession for October 29, 2021. The highway contract will be awarded on a hybrid model, in which the company that bids the lowest toll rates and highest concession fees, wins. The concession will be for a period of 30 years and foresees an investment of BRL14.5 billion (US$2.7 billion).
The scope of works involves the installation of operational service bases, customer service, installation and improvement of toll plazas, road scales, general inspection post, additional tracks, insertion/complementation of marginal roads, duplication of part of the highway and implementation of 16.2 km extension of Serra das Araras.
