The city of Macapa has announced a public notice for the privatization of public lighting in Macapá. The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) provided technical support to the authority. The public lighting system will benefit 500 thousand inhabitants from a higher quality service.
The concession aims to delegate the services of modernization, efficiency, expansion, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure of the municipal network for a period of 20 years. The future concessionaire must also implement, within a maximum period of 24 months, a system that meets the efficiency and performance requirements set out in the PPP notice throughout the city. The private partner will also make improvements, such as the implementation of a remote management system on the main roads.
The auction is scheduled for October 7, 2020. The concessionaire's investments in the project are estimated at more than BRL 100 million (US$ 17.88 million) over the concession period.
