The Federal Government of Brazil, through the Ministry of Infrastructure (MInfra), has received two new proposals from the private sector for the development of railway projects in São Paulo, Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais.
In total, there are now 13 proposals of this type under analysis in MInfra. They represent together an investment of BRL67 billion (US$12.6 billion) and around 4,200 kilometers of new tracks within the Setembro Ferroviário. The investors are interested in building and operating these projects.
Macro Desenvolvimento Ltda proposed to build and operate a new 610-km railway line, connecting the municipalities of Presidente Kennedy, in Espírito Santo, to the Minas Gerais Conceição do Mato Dentro and Sete Lagoas. The investment is BRL14 billion (US$2.63 billion). Another project is presented by Fazenda Campo Grande and consists of an intermodal terminal in Santo André (SP). The line is 7 km long and has an investment of BRL322 million (US$60.6 million).
