Ministry of Infrastructure in Brazil has announced plans to launch a separate procurement process for the Transnordestina railway project.
The railway section between Custódia and Suape in the state of Pernambuco will be a separate project, which might be developed in another partnership with the private sector. The authorities expect that this decision will ease the implementation of the project and minimize delays.
Transnordestina concession will now be maintained until Port of Pecém in Ceará. Transnordestina Logística SA (TSLA), controlled by Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), is the concessionaire for the Transnordestina concession, which is under construction since 2006 and still not fully operational.
