The Government of Minas Gerais in Brazil has selected Consórcio S for its urban solid waste concession. The project includes the collection, transport, transshipment, treatment, and final destination provision for solid waste in eight municipalities. Udner the concession, Consórcio S will cover municipalities of of Uberaba, Sacramento, Campo Florido, Conceição das Alagoas, Delta, Água Comprida, Veríssimo and Planura.
The estimated investment value for the project is BRL1 billion (US$215 million), including BRL164.7 million (US$35.42 million) for the implementation and BRL944 million (US$203.04 million) for the operation and maintenance during the concession period of 30 years. The project is expected to benefit and provide basic sanitation as well as solid waste management services to 430 thousand inhabitants of eight municipalities in Minas Gerais.
