The Ministry of Infrastructure of Brazil, through the National Civil Aviation Secretariat, has approved the concession of the Parnaíba Airport. The International Airport will strengthen tourism in the Rota das Emoções region including states of Piauí, Ceará and Maranhão. The PPP project will provide infrastructure to expand cargo transport capacity with a new terminal and enable the creation of international routes.
The PPP at Parnaíba Airport will conduct a bidding process to provide public services of administration, conservation, recovery, maintenance, implementation of improvements, and airport operation of the space. The project is estimated to attract BRL106 million (US$19.53 million) in investment. The concession period for the project is 32 years.
