The Municipality of Joinville in Brazil has appointed BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) as a technical advisor for the concession of public lighting system in the city.
BNDES is preparing technical studies as well as economic-financial modeling for the concession. The operational cost of this work will be deducted from the future PPP concession. The municipality will appoint a private partner to operate, maintain and improve the current street light network in the city.
The project will be the first public-private partnership (PPP) for the Joinville city hall. The municipality has a Cosip (Contribution for Public Lighting Costs), which makes the PPP model viable.
