The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has signed the contract to structure the concession of a portion of the Amapa State Forest (FLOTA/AP) in Brazil.
The concession aims to promote sustainable production, combat illegal exploitation and encourage sustainable regional economic development, with the improvement of the quality of life of the populations. The project provides for the sustainable management of forests, their conservation and the study of the economic potential of the territories. Part of the structuring project is six forest plots of 585,000 ha, total FLOTA / AP has 2,369,400 ha.
BNDES will oversee the technical research work prior to the auction(s). The total area of parks and forests under the mandate of BNDES is 17.8 million ha.
