Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES) has announced that it provides additional BRL11.8 million (US2.2 million) financing to Albioma Codora Energia for biogas production in Brazil.
Initial funding from BNDES is BRL13.3 million (US$2.5 million). The total funding will increase biogas production through the use of stillage, which is a product of the fermentation of alcohol from sugar cane. The project involves the implement a biogas production line at a cogeneration plant in Goianésia, Brazil. The modernization of the plant is carried out within the framework of the Finem Fundo Clima program. The project is expected to increase energy exports at the Goianesia plant by 22 GWh, with total production expected to reach 200 GWh without increasing installed capacity.
BNDES funding covers earthworks, excavation of stillage tanks, construction of the building, street leveling and plant foundations. The total investment in the project is BRL30.4 million (US$5.8 million).
