The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has provided BRL2.9 billion (US$561.46 million) in financing to the Concessionária Linha Universidade SA (CLU) for the construction phase of Line 6 of the São Paulo subway in Brazil. The installment is the first disbursement of the BRL6.9 billion (US$1.33 billion) financing contract signed in December 2021.
The scope of the project includes the development of 15.3 km of rail tracks connecting districts of Brasilandia and Freguesia de Ó with the city center, 15 stations including three large interchanges, three bus terminals, a parking lot for trains and 22 new trains (132 wagons) and systems.
The total investment in the project is approximately BRL17 billion (US$3.29 billion), financed by a consortium of 11 banks namely BNP Paribas, which acted as financial advisor, Banco Santander, JP Morgan, ICO, CAF, SMBC, Intesa, Crédit Agricole (CACIB), Bradesco, American Bank of Commerce (ABC) and BNDES.
