Bilaspur waste PPP to follow PPP model

The Urban Administration and Development Department of the Chhattisgarh State (India) has announced the implementation of an integrated solid waste management project in the city of Bilaspur.

The project would be developed and operated under the public private partnership (PPP) model on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis.

Bilaspur, along with other ten cities in Chhattisgarh State, has been included in the Smart Cities Mission project, which aims to energy efficiency of the cities. The Smart Cities Mission project has been promoted by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), which is a unit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

In the state of  Chhattisgarh, the Smart Cities Mission project is being undertaken by Centre's Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

AMRUT have informed that the plan will include improvement of drinking water supply, sewerage and drainage lines in the selected cities of Chhattisgarh. Additionally, improvements in the public transport, new parking facilities and new green zones would be taken up.

The Chhattisgarh government will receive from the AMRUT Mission around US$43 million.
