The Tamil Nadu Road Development Company (TNRDC) has announced that three civil engineering firms have submitted bids to construct and maintain 9.7 km Package EPC-05 of the 132.87 km Chennai Peripheral Ring Road project in Tamil Nadu, India.
This expressway, featuring six lanes and four service lanes under controlled access, is set to serve as Chennai's fourth ring road, linking Ennore Port to NH16 (formerly NH5) at Thatchur. Specifically, Package EPC-05 is situated within a 30.10 km stretch of Section III, connecting Thiruvallur Bypass to Sriperumbudur along National Highway 48 (Old NH-4). The financing for Section III's construction comes from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), providing a USD 378 million loan. This section is segmented into three EPC packages: EPC-03, EPC-04, and EPC-05, with EPC-05 being the shortest and facilitating the connection from Sengadu to Sriperumbudur.
The three bidding entities that have submitted proposals are Larsen and Toubro Ltd. (L&T), Oriental Structural Engineers Pvt. Ltd. (OSE), and Ramalingam Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. (RCC). Notably, the entire project is subdivided into eight civil packages, and currently, Tata and L&T are engaged in the development of Sections 1 & 2.
