Dineshchandra R Agarwal Infracon- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DRA-DMRC) JV has emerged as the lowest bidder for the Ahmedabad Railway Station Redevelopment Project at an estimated cost of INR2383.59 Crores (USD286.6 Million) in Gujarat.
The project envisions a comprehensive transformation featuring commercial, retail, and residential developments. Its primary objective is the seamless integration of heritage sites like Btick Minar and Jhulta Minar. In addition, a new open amphitheater, inspired by the one at Adalaj ni Vav (Adalaj Stepwell), is part of the plan. The project also entails dedicated access roads, multi-modal transit hub buildings, and the development of the surrounding areas. Drawing inspiration from the Modhera Sun Temple, the prospective design aims to create a city-center atmosphere. It will efficiently unify various modes of transportation, including railways, metro, bullet trains, and buses, all within a single location. Upon completion, the redeveloped area will offer amenities such as a spacious roof plaza, retail spaces, and cafeterias, ensuring convenience and enjoyment for travelers. The project's broader goal is to connect both parts of the city by developing stations on either side of the railway tracks, along with ample parking space to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
Notably, the Ahmedabad Railway Station currently features 12 platforms at a single station. The construction of the Ahmedabad Station for HSR (High-Speed Rail) is underway on existing railway platforms 11 and 12, led by the IRCON-DRA joint venture, positioned on the eastern end of the planned redeveloped railway station. This will be further integrated with the Saraspur side of the existing railway station.
Among the bidders for the project, including NCC, Afcons Infrastructure, ITD, and L&T, the DRA-DMRC joint venture has submitted the lowest bid, which is below RLDA's estimated cost of INR2563 Crore (USD308 Million).
